Ever so often I come across an idea that helps me tremendously in my personal and business life.I’m always racking my brain trying to think of new and improved ways to look at things.
I’ve always observed the people in my life that have the most problems in their relationships and those who’s have the most harmony. After many years I’ve boiled it down to basically one thing that will either make or break you. Are you ready?….
The acronym is S – T – F – U
That stands for:
Shut
The
(Insert expletive)
Up!
Just think about it, when looking at an argument who has the most power, the person who is blowing up screaming or the person who stares in a confident silence.
When someone is trying to prove how cool they are by blabbing their mouth off and bragging about everything, do they really come across that cool?
Now I’ll paraphrase a story that I heard on a stand up comedy routine a few months back. I wish I remembered the name of the comedian I would post the video. Anyway here it goes -
So we’re all over at my parents house having a BBQ having a great time. My dad was cooking the food while smoking a cigarette so my mom angrily went up to him and started screaming at him “I can’t believe you’re smokin’ over here around the BBQ and smokin’ around the children…” She went on for 10 minutes straight screaming at him while he didn’t say a word. She just kept going on and on and he just kept his silence. Finally she finished, he still didn’t talk. He waited about 10 seconds, looked her in the face and said “See… That’s why nobody likes you.”
I find that story to be extremely hilarious because it’s very true. If that lady would have just STFU and handled it a little more kindly she probably could have accomplished much more.
So always remember STFU and your life will probably be running much smoother!
